Gmail too risky for business adoption
I am always blown away when I hear of a business that has switched to Google mail to save a few dollars a year.
We’ve covered several times why Google is simply an ineffective business email service compared to Microsoft Exchange, but let’s take it further.
Here’s a troubling account of how a Gmail security breach almost cost this person his business.
Google- Big Brother moving into your business
There’s been a lot said and written on the brilliance of Google, but I’d like to throw my own perspective in the mix.

Most complete list of Windows 7 shortcuts
Windows 7 is a hit, but like any new operating system, it takes some time to get used to all the new features. Here's a list of new short cuts that hopefully make things a little easier for you.
Why Apple's Snow Leopard means more to Microsoft Exchange then Windows 7

But in regards to Microsoft Exchange support, it was Apple's launch of Snow Leopard that says more about the email system than Windows 7.
UK finds cost savings in Microsoft OCS
According to a Microsoft case study:
The University of Kentucky (UK) IT organization selected Microsoft Office Communications Server (OCS) 2007 to manage its large telephony infrastructure, then discovered that unified communications (UC) can also reduce costs and enhance communications. Although specific to UK, this Case Study provides a useful model for how other organizations can develop a practical UC strategy.
- Implementation of a UC strategy provides a foundation for efficiently growing, enhancing and managing all aspects of an enterprise communications infrastructure.
- The uniformity provided by OCS 2007 enabled the university to control and reduce communications costs, while improving personal productivity and fostering collaboration. An implementation doesn't necessitate the integration of OCS 2007 voice communications for all users, which diminishes the need to totally upgrade the time division multiplexing (TDM) platform.
- OCS 2007 audioconferencing costs significantly less than conferencing provided by service providers. When deployed with Exchange Server 2007, Microsoft's unified messaging (UM) solution was a cost-effective voice mail solution for the university.
Analysts: Windows 7 upgrade inevitable
During a Gartner Group Webinar, analysts said Windows business users should start to prepare for an upgrade to Windows 7 in the future.
Because Microsoft products are so entreched in the business world, users should be contemplating an upgrade in the future, Gartner said.
Although Windows 7 is more of a revamp of Vista, there are benifits to an upgrade. First of all, 59 percent of users never upgraded to Vista, according to a Garner poll, so some of the features included Vista can now be used in the more stable Windows 7.
There are also new features in Windows 7: AppLocker, BitLocker to Go, BrancheCache, better User Account Control settings, an updated user interface and support for HomeGroups are all included in the OS.
According to Gartner, businesses should plan for a 12 to 18 month test period for Windows 7 before implimenting the system across their network.
