Microsoft releases Office 365 to public beta

Microsoft Office 365 could revolutionize the way businesses operate. The rebranded service, descendant of Microsoft's Business Productivity Online Standard Suite, is a service that allows subscribers to work remotely to create websites, collaborate, share files and more.

The service will eventually be available in three different versions with with different price points, starting at $6 a month for small businesses. Microsoft Office 365 will give small-business subscribers access to Outlook e-mail, calendaring and Office Web Apps.

Later versions will include a service tailored to educational institutions.
