Google has come under fire for refusing to release how many subpoenas the company has received ordering them to release user information.
There is concern that the number is so large it could but a big fear into Google’s loyal user group.
Concern like this is just one factor to why any business considering a switch to Google mail for business should think long and hard on the move.
The price difference between Exchange and Google Apps is so small, why wouldn’t a business owner spend a few more dollars to have a better email client as well as far more control over their information.
I’m not trying to endorse destroying your email information if you receive a government subpoena, but wouldn’t you like to know when and why the government is requesting the information?
Also, let’s remember that Google is an advertising company. If an advertising firm called you today and offered you a few dollars to be able to take all of your private business emails and use them to solicit advertisements to you, you’d laugh in their face.
But that’s exactly what business owners are doing when they switch to Google Apps. It’s not worth it.
