Advanced Mobile Communications

Windows Mobile 6 breaks the barriers between different communications modes, including voice, text messaging, email and instant messaging. In this vein, Windows Mobile 6 introduces a new degree of efficiency and fidelity to the only genuine Microsoft Office Outlook® Mobile experience, delivering a more powerful mobile communications experience.

Windows Mobile 6 helps users stay connected with their contacts through features such as:

• Smart on-device filtering of mail and contacts
• Quick access to contacts from the global address directory
• Access to a user's call history from a contact card
• The ability to send a contact over an SMS

Windows Mobile 6 enables users to more efficiently manage their inbox:

• Smart searching and filtering in the inbox
• Support for flagging messages and synchronizing flags*
• Setting one's out of office message from the device*
• "Fetch" for long email messages*
• One-touch keyboard shortcuts for frequently used tasks
• New email setup wizards to improve email setup ease of use

Windows Mobile 6 supports enhanced fidelity of viewed messages for users, including:

• HTML mail with: tables, bullets, formatted text, images and hyperlinks. (Works with POP/IMAP & Exchange 2007)
• IRM mail, including the ability to read, and compose rights protected messages**

The new Windows Live™ for Windows Mobile client provides rich, enhanced functionality for Windows Mobile 6 users, including support for:

Increased Mobile Productivity

• Windows Mobile 6 decreases the compromises that users make for being mobile, by reducing the instances that a user has to use a laptop or desktop PC to perform common tasks. Windows Mobile 6 provides an increased level of productivity by helping users reach deeper into available information, where they previously had no access while mobile.

As users on teams are increasing collaborating on information stored on Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft Office SharePoint® Server and UNC file shares, Windows Mobile 6 increases the ability to collaborate and gain access to these tools, especially with features such as the ability to:

• Access SharePoint and UNC documents linked through email*
• Search the Exchange Server, including messages in the inbox or sub-folders*
• Use Global Address Lookup to access the corporate directory as your contacts database**

In addition to enhanced messaging features, Outlook Mobile offers new, robust calendaring capabilities, including:

• New calendar views, including a new day glance view
• Viewing meeting attendees, along with their status* if the user is the organizer
• Forward* and reply to meeting requests, and manage meeting request conflicts

Microsoft ® Office Mobile is now available as a licensable component for Windows Mobile 6 Standard powered devices, with support for IRM documents.

Integrated Mobile Business Performance

Windows Mobile 6 helps businesses succeed by delivering increased device control and security features, and greater interoperability with Exchange Server and other Microsoft assets so businesses can efficiently deploy, manage and secure Windows Mobile solutions.

Windows Mobile 6, with Exchange Server 2007, makes deploying, administering and monitoring a mobile messaging environment simple and cost effective, by allowing administrators to better utilize the same skills, tools and resources as the rest of the core messaging infrastructure:

• Simplified mobile administration with one click access*
• Increased policy management and flexibility for assignment to groups and individuals*
• Mobile "self-servicing option" in Outlook Web Access*
• Out-of-the-box user reporting through IIS logs*, and monitoring with Microsoft Operation Managing*

The ability to manage and deploy Windows Mobile 6 devices has been enhanced, through increased security-enhanced features, device management capabilities and flexible policy options. Features include:

• AES encryption and remote wipe* for storage cards
• New device lock policies including password expiration and history*, strong PIN and user reset*
• New desktop and device certificate enrollment tools
• PFX import
• AES 128 implementation for DPAPI, and AES 128 and 256 implementation for SSL
• Wildcard certificate support
• S/MIME configuration enhancements

Information Rights Management (IRM) support is built into Windows Mobile 6, with support for Office documents and email messages. Windows Mobile Device Center, which provides connectivity between a Windows Vista™ PC and a Windows Mobile powered device, can be turned on and off through Group Policy, and can be updated and installed via Windows Update.

Windows Mobile 6 provides the highest standard for line of business development and deployment, with features such as:
